Police rescue abandoned newborn kittens in city

Police on Thursday rescued two newborn kittens left in a shoebox behind a row house in Reading. A third kitten was dead when police responded to a 9-1-1 call from a neighbor who discovered the kittens in the 300 block of North Sixth Street about 6 p.m.
